| Each process from cutting and gluing to turning
is done by hand after which the shell is sealed and given
time to cure. It is then sanded and polished with several
light coats of lacquer.
A satin/gloss finish gives the drum a classic vintage look
and brings out the natural wood tones and grain characteristics
to the type of wood being used.
Beat heads original bearing edges are hand cut to 30°
- 35° degrees, depending on required tone, which then
rounds off to form a support ring. This keeps the drum 360°
degrees, adds strength, and gives the drums a special tone
quality and sound characteristics unique only to beat head
drums.
We use various types of wood in different combination when
producing a drum making each drum different.
